What is the best way to find archives of war for the soldiers who fought in the First World War?
My grandfather fought in the First World War, my mother knows that he fought in the Battle of the Somme and was wounded and returned to the United Kingdom, but he never discussed the war with my mother, she found out about him being injured by my grandmother. Anyone know the best way to find his record of war service.
Try to watch the first link for how to search. If you know his regiment / battalion then you might be able to communicate with their museum for more information. Another interesting thing to do is look at the newspapers battalion. I am fortunate to live in London, so I was able to read and take notes on my the end of the Great-uncle WW1 movements until his death 1915. The National Archives at Kew have info.
