Genealogy Book
I can hardly read a book of genealogy?
I read a book which has references to people buried in the cemetery property I buy. The problem is that I can not read! It is in a format of lines, I understand the concept, but it will be numbered 1-7, move left a bit and the number in the thousands. Besides several names are superscript numbers for the most 5, 6, 7. Can someone help me decipher this?
Not without seeing what you are talking about. Some descendants many books. If John Smith is the one that came on the Mayflower, he is No. 1 and he had children Thomas, Richard and Harry, they would be numbers 11, 12 and 13. Harry's children would be 131, 132 … And so on. Other books 139 using other numbering systems. If you start on the first page (if you to have – I hope you have the whole book, not just pages 147-159, with 12 generations of Xerox buttons) the system may become clear. Figures superscript may refer to sources cited, or they may be generations. Back to John, the son of Harry and Harry Paul, the input Paul could be: Smith, Paul (Harry 2, John 1) to show the line to John Paul the founder of the clan.
