ancestry 1900 census
Did you break a brick wall today or this week?

If so, how long has it been that you have been searching for this information? Ancestry.com just released US Passport Applications today and I broke a brick wall I’ve had for five years and found an ancestor living in Nicaragua since 1898. No wonder I couldn’t find him in the 1900 census!

Yippee!!

I am smiling HUGELY on your behalf. Researchers know that feeling of euphoria.
The closest thing to a “break” for me this week is finally getting the scanner to operate like it should. My plan is to (finally) get the cream of the old family pics scanned, and create digital family albums as gifts for relatives this year. People don’t have to fight over possession of the old family treasured photos like they used to.
When I took out one early picture of hubby’s father, I found that his mom has written on the back of it, how that photo in a friend’s home, caught her eye, and she finagled an introduction before he went into the army in WW2. They married in 1943. At 84, she is now facing macular degeneration but is thrilled to learn how photos can be enlarged on computer screens.
Nothing big, just wanted to respond and acknowledge your joy. *smile*
