Will being an Iraq war vet be held against me in obtainingf a visa with such a anti-iraq war attitude in europ?

I have a Masters in Occupational Therapy because I am tired of the decline of morals in America, the economy, political correctness, the ignorance of the american attitude, and I’d like to live in a country that enjoys peace rather than war. I really feel like America is close to a Civil War and I am tired of the hate. With my degree I feel I can do alot of good for a country that would take me..I am of Irish and German ancestry but I can’t speak German so I am thinking of Ireland or England or a predominately English speaking country. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!!

Any anti-Iraq war attitude is to do with Governments, politicians and the public being treated like idiots over fiascoes like WMD. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the soldiers of any country, so don’t worry on that score.

THe UK immigration system is now points based, that is to day you need to accrue a set number of points to be eligible to apply for a visa.

As you have a Masters degree, you would be possibly eligible to apply for a Tier 1 Highly Skilled Worker visa.

In this category you must score 95 to be eligible. The points are based on the following:
-75 points for your attributes (age, qualifications, previous earnings, and experience in the UK); and
-10 points for English language; and
-10 points for available maintenance funds.

As you come from an English speaking country, you can claim the points for English language without sitting an exam.

You need to show that you have £2,800 in your bank account for at least three months before you apply.

The points awarded for the attributes are detaled on this link.

Ireland is very expensive compared to the UK and has very high unemployment. Ireland is having to make massive cuts in services and two of the cuts made earlier this year show just how bad things are there. They cut free medical cards for the over 70s and the cervical cancer immunisation programme for young girls.

Is your Irish descent from a grandparent born in Ireland? If it is you are eligible to claim Irish citizenship.

I think you need to spend some time in the UK or Ireland before deciding to move. We have many of the same problems as the US, although perhaps on a smaller scale. The economy is not brilliant here and political correctness drives us to distraction also.

You will find the UK and Ireland much more liberal minded than perhaps you are used to.
