Could anyone tell me about the Leonard and Buytendach family name ?
Hey, could anyone out there tell me about the Leonard family name. Im doing research for my Family Tree and need to fill in the Leonards. I got the family first names.They are George Frederick and John Edward. The most I know is that they came from Galway Bay in County Galway, Ireland. The second family name im looking for is Buytendach. The names are Jacobus Nicholas Buytendach. I need to know everything about these 2 family names. Dont tell me to go to ancestry.com or Genealogy.com because they cant help very much and theyre offline most of the time ! PLEASE PLEASE HELP.
It all depends on when they were born, if for instance they were born in the period of civil registration, then you need to visit a Latter Day Saints Family History centre near you, they will have Irish births, marriages & deaths indexes. If you have some idea when your Leonards were born and married, then you could search the indexes and when you find what you are looking for, you can apply for a copy of a certificate. If they also lived before a census that is now available then you find the family on this.
Regarding the Buytendach family, they sound Jewish so you will have to find out what part of Europe they came from.
