Can someone help me with trying to find the meaning of my surname?
I have recently been trying to find out the meaning of my last name, which is Osenko. However, I have come up short with many of these ancestry.com tyoe of websites. None of them even have an idea of where it comes from. I am wondering if someone would be able to help out?
Every name has a meaning, but the origin could be lost in the mists of time. There is one Osenko family in the 1930 census in Michigan. The father was born in Russia. Is this Your Family?
There is also a record of a Polish Osenko. It is possible the immigrant was born in Russian Poland.
The only way to know for sure is to research your ancestry. I found Osenkos now living in both Poland and Russia.
