Genealogy – Locating a missing family member?

I’ve been attempting to create a Family Tree, but since I’m a poor, broke student, I haven’t got access to ancestry.co.uk or any subscription websites. I’ve been asking family members about their parents and grandparents, and several of them think that a few generations ago, there was a brother. However, no one has any idea what his name was. To get information about the sisters of that generation I’ve used freebmd and freecen, but I can’t use either of those for this mystery brother without a name. Does anyone know of a free genealogy website where the names of the parents could be used to find the names of their children?

(Sorry if that was a bit long-winded – I’m rubbish at condensing stories)

It depends on when brother was born, but you could perhaps get something on BMD. Put in surname only, with area if known, and possibly approximate dates, then wade through. You don’t have to put in forename. If he was born after mid 1911, you could also put in mother’s maiden name if known, as that would also be registered and in indexes.
You could try http://www.familysearch.org , but I have found the website to not be very accurate. If you find anything on there, you should verify elsewhere.
